2014 World Cup: 75 Brazilian footballers protest against an over packed 2014 calendar

"Footballers from first and second divisions express their concern at the sight of the 2014 calendar published by CBF (Brazilian Football Federation). Due to the short period of time and the large number of matches concentrated in short periods, we decided to meet independently to request a meeting with the Federation to discuss this issue," said 75 Brazilian players including 18 current or former international, in a statement addressed to the Brazilian Federation.

If the 2013 Brazilian championship has already scheduled 38 days in less than seven months, from May to December, the XXth World Cup organised in June-July has led the Federation to establish an even busier schedule in 2014 with sometimes four matches in eight days.
