Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, France, England, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Iceland, Croatia, and the Netherlands are the 12 countries that will make up League A of the 2018-19 UEFA Nations League, announced on 11/10/2017. These 12 teams will be divided into four groups of three, and will face each other in 2018 (calendar below).

The winner of each group will play the final phase of the Nations League (semi-finals, third-place match, and final) from 05 to 09/06/2019 to win the title of champion of the first UEFA Nations League. A host country will be nominated in December 2018 among the four finalists.

The 55 UEFA member federations have been divided according to their place in the UEFA coefficient rankings at the end of the European qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup (on 11/10/2017, results of the play-offs are not taken into account).
• League A consists of the top 12 teams.
• The next 12 teams, League B.
• The next 15 teams, League C.
• The remaining 16, League D (league composition below).
