England: €120 million fund for grassroots football

The Premier League, the British government, and the Football Association have all committed to establish a fund of €120 million to improve pitches and coaching facilities for grassroots football, on the 21/10/2013.

The fund will be available to communities and amateur clubs from January 2014 to the end of 2017. The Football Association will invest in the fund through its Football Foundation.

"Premier League clubs are committed to playing an active role as hubs of their communities, particularly in the area of sports participation, from the grassroots level through to their academies...By committing €42 million over the three years to developing more and better public sports sites, we hope to continue that regeneration", said Richard Scudamore, Chief Executive of the Premier League.

"The funding that the FA has invested through the Football Foundation has dramatically improved local football facilities up and down the country and is a key part of the FA's four-year National Game Strategy.
