CONCACAF Summit: Creating a professional league is under consideration in the Caribbean

Jeffrey Webb will set up an expert group to study the feasibility of a Caribbean league to improve chances of qualifying for countries in the region, announced the president of CONCACAF (Confederation of Football in North America, Central and Caribbean) on the 22/10/2013. The subject is one of the topics being addressed at the summit on developing football, on the 22/10/2013.

"We have so much talent in the region, the game here needs a professional league, a professional approach", said Jeffrey Webb. The Caribbean has had four appearances at the World Cup since its inception: Cuba (1938), Haiti (1978), Jamaica (1998) Trinidad and Tobago (2006).

During the qualification process for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, in the CONCACAF Zone, no Caribbean countries qualified: the three places were taken by Costa Rica, the United States and Honduras. Mexico will play a play-off against New Zealand on the 13/11 and 20/11/2013.
