FIFA: "We must be extremely firm with racism" (Joseph Blatter)

"We must do more to combat racism and discrimination. We must be extremely strong, we must eliminate the teams involved or deduct their points... They are enemies of football today. It is only with harsh penalties that we can eliminate them", said Joseph Blatter, president of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) at a gala held in London, to mark the 150th anniversary of the FA (Football Association, English FA) on the 26/10/2013.

"We established, at the FIFA Congress, that it did not make sense to punish racists with fines, you can always find the money to pay them. It does not make sense either to play a match without spectators, since it is contrary to the spirit of football and it penalises the opposing team. All this makes no sense", he added.

FIFA created a task force against racism and discrimination on the 02/03/2013. It is chaired by Jeffrey Webb, vice president of FIFA and president of CONCACAF (Confederation of North America, Central and Caribbean).
