Brazil 2014: 889,305 tickets allocated by draw in first phase of sales

889,305 tickets for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil were awarded by lottery, marking the end of the first phase of ticket sales, announced FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association), on the 05/11/2013. The authority had recorded 6,164,682 requests for 64 matches of the XX World Cup, from the 20/08 to 10/10/2013, which means that 14.42% of requests were met.

Buyers represented 188 countries around the world, but more than seven out of ten (70.3%), or 625,276 people, were Brazilian residents. This was followed, in descending order, by purchasers from the United States (66,646), the UK (22,257) and Germany (18,019).

All applicants will be notified by e-mail or SMS on the outcome of their applications by no later than the 10/11/2013. Each person was allowed to apply for a maximum of four tickets per game, per household, for a maximum of seven matches.
