The Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo (108 caps, 44 goals) will soon have a museum dedicated to him, announced the Portuguese daily Diario de Noticias, on the 19/11/2013. The space, created in Funchal, capital of Madeira island and birthplace of the player, will open in late 2013 or early 2014.

The museum will exhibit the player's trophies, notably the 2008 Ballon d'Or and two Golden Boots (obtained in 2008 with Manchester United and 2011 with Real Madrid). "The initiative is Ronaldo and his mother's, and he himself is responsible for its financing," said the Portuguese newspaper.

A space dedicated to the Argentine Lionel Messi was opened in one part of the FC Barcelona Museum on the 12/07/2013.

In addition, a museum dedicated to former Brazilian player Pelé (92 caps, 77 goals) is under construction in Santos (Brazil), where the attacker played from 1956 to 1974. Designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer, the project has been in development since 2008, but no date for its opening has been announced.
