Queens Park Rangers (Championship, English 2nd division) want to build a stadium that can accommodate 40,000 spectators in the district of Old Oak in London, replacing the current Loftus Road (18,000 seats), announced the club, on the 13/12/2013.

"Loftus Road is - and always will be - a special place for the club and our supporters, but we need more than an 18,000 capacity," said Tony Fernandes, the Malaysian owner of the club.

"With no option of expanding here, we have to look elsewhere and we welcome the Mayor’s and Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s commitment to regenerate the area," said the club. The new stadium, nicknamed New Queens Park would be located 2.2 km north of Loftus Road.

The stadium will be the "the catalyst for the regeneration of a forgotten area - ultimately bringing new transport, 24,000 homes and at least 50,000 jobs," announced Queens Park Rangers.

The club would like to obtain a building permit in early 2015 and begin construction on the stadium shortly after. The stadium will be fully funded by the club, who have not yet announced a total cost.
