NFL: Enterasys implement "Wi-Fi coaches" to help connect fans in two stadiums

Enterasys, a U.S. company that designs and manufactures equipment for telecommunications networks, has established "Wi-Fi coaches" in the NFL (National Football League, U.S.) to help fans connect to stadium networks during New England Patriots (Boston) and Philadelphia Eagles games.

In Boston at the Gillette Stadium (68,700 seats), and the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia (67,500 seats), Wi-Fi helpers roam the venues in order to assist fans. Enterasys equipped the 2 stadiums with a high density Wi-Fi solution in September 2013.

"After we installed the networks, we quietly realised that the fundamental issues weren’t with the design - it was user issues," said John Brams, director of hospitality and venues with Enterasys, to the Mobile Sports Report website.

"When you consider that the average age of a Patriots fan at the game is 51 or 52, Brams said, it’s understandable that many of them might not know how to do things like download an app or find a Wi-Fi connection for their phone. Communicating with fans at the games is also problematic," said Brams.
