Chelsea (Premier League, ENG) generated a record turnover of £ 255.8 m (€ 309m) and made a net loss of £ 49.4m, nearly € 60m, in 2012-13, the London based club announced, on the 31/12/2013.

The Blues' commercial income are 19% up, from £ 67m (€ 81m) in 2011-12 to £ 79.6m (€ 96.2m) in 2012-13, thanks to the signing of partnerships with German car manufacturer Audi, US airline Delta Air Lines and Russian hotel chain Azimut Hotels. These additional revenues allowed Chelsea to record an increase in their turnover for the fourth consecutive year, "despite diminished European competition revenue," the club said.

Chelsea, who won the Champions League in 2011-12 but were eliminated after the group stage in 2012-13 (passed into the Europa League and winner of the competition), said their € 60m loss are partly due to these less favourable sporting results on the European scene. The club also explain it because of lower player trading profit compared to 2011-12.

Chelsea indicate the amount of their losses won't prevent the club from meeting with the criteria of financial fair play regulations…
