NFL: Thursday Night Football audiences on Amazon Prime Video and Twitch up 47% compared to in 2017

Audiences for the first seven Thursday Night Football games of the 2018 NFL regular season broadcast on the VOD platform Amazon Prime Video and on Twitch, an Amazon subsidiary and streaming platform specialising in video games and eSports, are up 47% compared to the 2017 season, according to US media Sporttechie on 12/11/2018.

In addition to broadcasting on Prime Video, reserved for Amazon Prime subscribers, Amazon has also been broadcasting Thursday Night Football games on Twitch with free international access since December 2017.

Amazon extended its digital broadcasting rights to 11 "Thursday Night Football" games for the 2018 and 2019 regular seasons, for an estimated $65m (€58m) per year on 26/04/2018. Amazon acquired these rights for the 2017 regular season for an estimated $50m (€45m) on 05/04/2016. Twitter paid an estimated $10m (€9m) for these rights in 2016.
