Manchester United and Chelsea (Premier League) joined the "Football v Homophobia" campaign on 05/02/2014. To date, 31 English professional clubs, including 12 Premier League clubs, are members.

This movement organises actions to raise awareness of football-related discrimination in homosexuality with information days or special operations during matches.

"This isn't just about players coming out. It's about all of us - including heterosexual players and fans who attend matches week in week out - being willing to speak out and take visible action to challenge prejudice in the game," said campaign director Lou Englefield.

"For us as players and role models, we all recognise the importance of the Football v Homophobia campaign," said Kevin Nolan, captain of West Ham United. "We're passionate about supporting this and we hope that it sends out a message that there is no place for discrimination in football, nor in any sport."
