"Broadcasters will not pay the rights fees that they are paying now. It has reached its peak," said Phil Lines, consultant and former director of the international media rights of the Premier League (between 2002 and 2010), at the Sports Decisions Makers' Summit in London (UK) on 10/07/2019.

However, Tony Singh, chief commercial officer of England and Wales Cricket Board, indicated that individual rights holders will all react differently: "There is no (single) 'Sport plc' on the market. There will be individual winners and individual losers. You need to develop a strategy to make sure you are an individual winner."

"I don’t see any of them (FAANGs; Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google) wanting to come in at the amount the pay-tv companies are currently paying," added Phil Lines.

TV rights: "All the actors who have raised the prices over the last twenty years are declining empires" (Pierre Maes, author of the book "The business of football TV rights", 15/03/2019)
