2019 Women's World Cup: €33.4m in gross advertising revenue for the French TF1 group (Kantar)

The 25 matches of the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup broadcast by the French private TV group TF1 (nine on TF1 and 16 on the TMC channel, both free-to-air) generated €33.4m in gross advertising revenue (before discounts and commissions), according to the marketing and communication consultancy Kantar Media on 11/07/2019.

The TF1 group had acquired the rights to broadcast the competition in France for €12m on 14/01/2016, before sub-licensing par to the rights to the Canal+ group for all 52 matches of the competition on pay-TV in France, on 16/11/2017.

The 2018 Men's World Cup in Russia had generated a total of €128.3m in gross advertising revenue for the French audiovisual groups TF1 (28 matches on TF1) and beIN Sports France (64 matches), the broadcasters of the competition in France, indicated Kantar Media on 18/07/2018. TF1, alone, had generated €87.7m of gross advertising revenue during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil (28 matches broadcast on TF1). The gross revenue generated by beIN Sports in the 2014 edition was not reported by Kantar Media.
