Brazil 2014: Exclusive Adidas 2014 World Cup t-shirt designs accused of inciting "sex tourism"

The German brand Adidas announced the withdrawal of the sales of two t-shirt designs launched in the United States for the 2014 World Cup on 25/02/2014. They have been accused by the Brazilian authorities as encouraging "sex tourism."

On one design, the image of a heart that accompanies the slogan "I love Brazil" resembles the upside down buttocks of a woman wearing a g-string. The second shirt exposes a young bikini-clad woman, ball in hand, accompanied by the pun: "Looking to score."

"It is unacceptable that a multinational sporting goods brand such as Adidas (...) would sell T-shirts with images and phrases that link Brazil to sex tourism," said the Brazilian Minister of Policies for Women, Eleonora Menicucci. "The government will intensify its efforts to prevent the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents during Carnival and the World Cup," wrote the president of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, on her Twitter account.
