United Kingdom: 98.5% of TV programmes watched on a TV in 2013, 88.7% live

98.5% of TV programmes broadcast in the UK in 2013 were viewed on a TV, revealed a study by Thinkbox, a marketing representative body of British commercial television, published on 17/02/2014.

British viewers spend an average of 3 hours and 55 minutes a day in front of their TV (12 minutes more than in 2003), against 3 minutes and 30 seconds of TV-watching via a mobile display. Despite this low figure, it represents an increase of 16.7% compared to 2012 (3 minutes per day on average). The majority of TV viewing on mobile screens mainly concerns TV replay services by broadcasters such as BBC, ITV and Sky.

Consumption of linear television (live) fell by nine minutes per day in the UK in 2013 from 4 hours and 01 minutes in 2012 to 3 hours and 52 minutes a year later. Thinkbox explains this decline is mainly due to the absence of major sporting events in the summer of 2013, and expects a turnaround in 2014 with the World Cup in Brazil.
