Bayern Munich: prosecutor waives right to appeal after conviction of Uli Hoeness

The Munich Prosecutor's office announced that it renounced its right to lodge an appeal against the judgment for tax fraud committed by Uli Hoeness, former president of Bayern Munich (Bundesliga) on 17/03/2014.

Uli Hoeness was sentenced to three and a half years in prison "for seven serious cases of tax fraud" on 13/03/2014, despite the fact that the prosecution had demanded five and a half years in prison. This conviction allowed the public prosecutor to appeal to the Supreme Court against the diminished sentence, which would have resulted in a new trial.

Uli Hoeness, born on 05/01/1952, announced that he would not appeal his conviction and that he had resigned from his position as chairman of FC Bayern Munich and chairman of the supervisory board of the FC Bayern Munich AG holding company on 14/03/2014.
