Qatar 2022: $2m paid to Jack Warner, former vice-president of FIFA, by a Qatari company

Former vice-president of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), Jack Warner, and his relatives, received $2m (€1.4m) from a Qatari company, after the designation of Qatar as the host country for the 2022 World Cup, said the British daily newspaper, The Telegraph, on 17/03/2014.

In December 2011, Kemco, a company owned by Mohamed bin Hammam, a former member of the executive committee of FIFA, is suspected of having paid $1.2m (€862,000) to Jack Warner, $750,000 (€540,000) to Warner's son and $400,000 (€287,000) to one of his employees under "professional services provided over the period 2005-2010."

An FBI investigation is underway to determine if there is a link between the payments and the designation of Qatar as the host country for the 2022 World Cup. An internal investigation is also being conducted by FIFA regarding possible irregularities in the procedure for awarding the XXII World Cup.
