FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) announced a positive result of €52m ($72m) in 2013, during the publication of its annual financial report at the meeting of its executive committee on 21/03/2014 in Zurich (SUI).

Total revenues in 2013 amounted to approximately €1b, up 18% compared to 2012 (€845m). TV revenue (€435m) and marketing rights (€292m) for the World Cup accounted for the majority of income.

FIFA expenditure amounted to approximately €952m, up 22% compared to 2012 (€781m). Organising seven competitions (€548m), development projects (€132m) and operating expenses (€156m) accounted for the majority of expenses.

As of 31/12/2013, FIFA had €1.03b in capital reserves. "The creation of sufficient reserves for the future is of major strategic importance to FIFA, particularly given its high financial dependence on the FIFA World Cup™ and the fact that it is difficult to fully insure an event of such magnitude. This provides global football with stability and confidence, offering a strong foundation from which to flourish," said the international body.
