Premier League: fans will spend £1.3bn in 2019-20 +31% compared to 2014-15 (eToro study)

"In the 2019-20 season, match-going fans (in England) will spend an estimated £1.3bn following their club", while ticket prices for matches, merchandise and TV subscriptions are rising sharply according to the "Fan Financial Statement" study published by the digital trading platform eToro, in partnership with the interactive platform of the international network of audit and consulting firms, KPMG Football Benchmark, on 20/11/2019.

The total expenditure of £1.3bn reflects a 31% increase between the 2014-15 and 2019-20 seasons, while inflation, as indicated by the consumer price index, rose to 8.4% in the United Kingdom over the same period. "The biggest spend increases for match-going fans have been in TV subscriptions (40%), merchandise (shirts and scarves) (21%), home ticket prices (14%), and food and beverage (11%)," highlighted the report.

According to the study, a "dedicated fan" - who attends his/her club's 19 home matches and 5 away league matches in the Premier League - will spend an average of £1,888 (€2,203) during the 2019-20 season. Arsenal FC fans are the ones who will…
