The 2013 Confederations Cup benefited the Brazilian economy by €3.08b, announced the Ministry of Tourism of Brazil, on 07/04/2014. These figures come from a study published by the FIPE (Foundation of the Brazilian Institute of Economic Research) to measure the impact of the Confederations Cup on the Brazilian economy.

According to the same study, the 2014 World Cup should generate €9.54b, or about 0.5% of Brazil's GDP (Gross Domestic Product).

The ninth Confederations Cup, held in Brazil from 15 to 30/06/2013, generated a turnover of €6.58b. Of this total, €3.5b came from spending by tourists - Brazilian and foreign - as well as from expenses of the LOC (Local Organising Committee) and private and public investment. The remaining €3.08b is accounted for as an increase in the country’s GDP.

The Confederations Cup, organised by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) was seen as a rehearsal for the World Cup, bringing together eight national teams for 16 games. The 2013 edition was won by Brazil (3-0 victory in the final against Spain).
