Covid-19 / Italy: "We will propose to UEFA (on 17/03/2020) to postpone Euro 2020" (G. Gravina, FIGC)

"We will propose to UEFA that the European Championship is postponed in order to conclude the league season: we believe that it’s fairer and more appropriate to give a definitive ending to the season after all of the sacrifices, efforts and investments made by our clubs," stated Gabriele Gravina, president of FIGC, during the XXL Sportmediaset television programme on 15/03/2020, about the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) and the suspension of competitions it has caused.

"UEFA has today invited representatives of its 55 member associations, together with the boards of the European Club Association and the European Leagues and a representative of FIFPro, to attend meetings by video conference on Tuesday 17/03/2010 to discuss European football's response to the outbreak," announced UEFA on 12/03/2020.

"Italy is two weeks ahead compared to other countries, so what we can plan today the others would find difficult to, because they still don’t know the exact scale of the problem. We want to complete the league seasons and it’s clear that the biggest obstacle is the presence of the Euros…
