Median income of first division clubs was €2.5m in 2012

European first division clubs had a combined revenue of €14.1bn in the 2011-2012 season (or 2012 in the championships that take place during the calendar year), according to the 6th Club Licensing Benchmarking Report published by UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) on 17/04/2014.

This figure excludes capital gains from the sale of players and financial income, and represents an increase of 7% compared to the previous financial year (the figure was €13.2bn in 2011). From 2008 to 2012 (the five previous financial years studied by UEFA), the combined revenue of the 53 European top divisions increased by 42% (Gibraltar, the 54th UEFA federation member, only joined the European body on 24/05/2013).

Within the European Top 5 (England, Germany, Spain, Italy and France), the Premier League clubs have seen their turnover increase by 53% in the last five years, while Liga BBVA increased by 43% and Bundesliga by 42%. They were followed by clubs in Serie A (+33%) and Ligue 1 (+19%).
