"Every second, 1.5 million people are on Twitch (streaming platform). In 2019, we counted a monthly average of 4 million unique viewers with a total of more than 10 billion hours viewed. With the lockdown, the hours viewed have increased by 50% each month," said Melissa Simoni, sales director for France, Belgium and Luxembourg at Twitch, on 29/05/2020.

"The opportunity for brands is our audience: we bring together the Gen Z, the millennials, i.e. the 15-25 year olds and the 15-35 year olds. The Gen Z and millennial audience is increasingly resistant to traditional advertising: young people often use ad blockers and watch less and less linear television. This audience is difficult for brands to reach," explained the former head of agency and entertainment at Twitter.

"Our community is our engine. When it generates money, Twitch makes money too. Twitch generates revenue in the same way as our broadcasters, via advertising, subscriptions and bits (virtual currency). Their business is our business," said Melissa Simoni, who answered questions posed by News Tank Football.
