"It's a false controversy. This is a convenient way to, once again, indict football. Any tactic is just fine for attacking football," said Pascal Boniface, founder and director of IRIS (Institute of International and Strategic Relations), speaking to News Tank on 02/05/2014, about the comments made by Michel Platini, president of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), who recommended on 25/04/2014 that Brazilians wait until the end of the World Cup before organising protests.

"We must tell the Brazilians that they have the World Cup. They are there to show the beauty of their country and their passion for football. If they can wait a month before outbursts of political demonstrations, it would be good for Brazil and for the football world. Well, in the end it's hard to know what will happen!" Platini said in Paris after the presentation of the schedule for the Euro 2016 finals.

"In the 21st century we still have a right to our jokes, and Michel Platini wanted to make one. If we only want leaders in three-piece suits that regurgitate the language provided by their companies…
