Formula E: ProsiebenSat.1 acquires TV rights (free-to-air) for Germany from 2021

The German audiovisual group ProsiebenSat.1 (via its subsidiary 7Sports) acquired the TV rights to the ABB Formula E World Championship "from Season 7 which will begin in January 2021", indicated Formula E, the organizing body of the electric car racing circuit, on 11/08/2020. The races should be broadcast on the free-TV channel Sat.1.

"To complement the live race programming, ProSiebenSat.1 and Formula E will develop bespoke electric mobility and motorsport content designed for the electric generation of technology-savvy and young, sustainability conscious viewers," explained Formula E, whose races were previously broadcast only via pay-per-view and on the Eurosport channels in Germany.

"Berlin (GER) is the only city to have featured on the calendar in every season and is currently hosting Formula E’s season finale of six races in nine days. Championship partners Allianz (insurance), BMWi (automobiles), Bosch (tools and equipment), DHL (logistics) and Hugo Boss (clothing) are all German brands and four major German automotive manufacturers - Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche…
