The 72 clubs that comprise the English second, third and fourth divisions, have agreed in principle to accept the "rescue package" proposed by the Premier League, namely a financial contribution of £50m (€55m, in the form of grants and interest-free loans) to the clubs of Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two, according to the English Football League on 12/11/2020.

This financial aid, which has become urgent, is intended to cover ticketing losses for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons for League One and League Two clubs, which have been particularly affected by the lack of matchday revenue due to the absence of spectators in stadiums, as a result of the Covid-19 crisis.

Sky Bet Championship clubs are not concerned by this plan, which is the main reason why the EFL did not initially want to validate it. "The EFL does note the previously stated Premier League position that it would engage with any EFL Club, including those in the Championship, that is suffering severe financial losses due to the pandemic," said the body.
