2022 and 2023 World Cups: FIFA launches TV rights tender for Italy

FIFA has launched a call for tenders for the broadcasting rights in Italy to the 2022 World Cup (Qatar) and the 2023 Women's World Cup (Australia and New Zealand) on 14/01/2021.

"Media companies or organisations wishing to participate in any of these tender processes can request the ITT by email. Interested parties should contact Italy-Media-Rights@fifa.org. Submissions to FIFA must be received by 13:00 CET on Tuesday, 16/02/2021," said FIFA.

In Italy, the 2018 World Cup was broadcast by the Italian free and pay-TV group Mediaset. The public TV group RAI and the pay TV operator Sky Italia shared the broadcasting for the 2019 Women's World Cup.

  • In Italy, an average of 6.525 million viewers watched the Italy-Brazil match (0-1), counting for the group stage of the 2019 Women's World Cup, on the public TV channel Rai 1 and 778,000 on the channels of the pay-TV operator Sky Italia, for a total of 7.3 million viewers.
    • Cumulative audience share: 32.8%.
