Liverpool FC send Anfield renovation permit application to city

Liverpool FC (Premier League) submitted their application for a building permit to renovate Anfield to the Liverpool city council on 04/06/2014. The club hopes to begin work in the first half of 2015 for delivery in 2018. Liverpool FC had presented their plans for the renovations, at an estimated cost of €196m, on 23/04/2014.

The project's first step is to increase capacity of the venue to 54,000 seats, compared to 45,500 in 2014. Main Stand, the oldest stand at Anfield, will be rebuilt and enlarged from a capacity of 8,500 to nearly 21,000, said the club. This stand, which has the main hospitality areas and the club shop, will include a third floor after the renovation.

The second phase will involve the Anfield Road End stand, which will gain 4,800 seats, bringing Anfield to a total capacity of 58,800.

Tom Boyle (England) was appointed to head up the renovation, the club announced on 04/06/2014. He was previously in charge of the construction of the Olympic Stadium in London (capacity 80,000), which was used for the 2012 Olympics, and in 2013 of the construction of the SS Hydro…
