World Cup 2014: Brazil-Chile spectators wealthier than national average

59% of Brazilian spectators at the Brazil-Chile match of the World Cup said they made a monthly salary of ten times the Brazilian minimum of €234 per month, according to a survey by the Brazilian polling institute Datafolha published on 30/06/2014. This 2014 World Cup (Brazil, from 12/06 to 13/07/2014) round of 16 match (Brazil beat Chile 1-1, 3-2 in penalty shootouts, 28/06/2014) was played at the Mineirão stadium (capacity 58,170) in Belo Horizonte.

Only 4% of Brazilians earn a monthly salary equal to or greater than €2,340 (10 times Brazil's minimum), and 10% of Belo Horizonte's residents do so, according to Datafolha. The institute surveyed Brazilian 693 ticket holders aged 16 and older heading to Mineirão stadium on 28/06/2014.
