Incidents in stadiums: "The public authorities must help us more" (L. Nicollin, Foot Unis)

"Since the beginning of the season, each day of the French championship has brought its share of serious incidents involving fans inside and outside the stadiums and, rarely, on the pitch! If we want to firmly combat this scourge, the public authorities, as true partners of our sporting events, must help us more," declared Laurent Nicollin, president of Foot Unis, to the French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, on 26/09/2021.

Nicollin, also president of Montpellier Hérault Sport Club (Ligue 1 Uber Eats) called for a "review of sanctions", stating that "in some countries, there are lifetime stadium bans." He also explained that professional clubs are facing "a difficulty in recruiting security staff, as the health crisis has led to the retraining of many of these personnel."
