England: the 20 Premier League clubs told to revert to "emergency protocols" due to Covid-19

The 20 Premier League clubs have been told to revert back to "emergency protocols" for first-team squads within their stadiums and training grounds due to the spread of Covid-19 (specifically the new Omicron variant), following the British government's new "Autumn and Winter Plan B (declared on 08/12/2021)," announced the English professional football league on 09/12/2021.

"The safety of everyone attending fixtures remains a priority for the Premier League and its clubs to ensure safe matchday environments can be enjoyed by all. The Premier League will continue to consult with Government, clubs, safety groups and local public health authorities to update protocols for match-attending fans ahead of the measures coming into effect next week," said the League.

These protocols (see below), which were introduced at the start of the season, had been relaxed by certain clubs whose supporters had high vaccination rates, but have now been reinstated to help limit the spread of the virus. The new rules make it mandatory for fans to show proof of double vaccination or a negative test to attend…
