Football League authorises in-stadium broadcasting of away games

Football League, which manages the English second, third and fourth divisions, on 14/08/2014 authorised the in-stadium live broadcasts of teams' away games.

The measure will apply only to midweek matches between distantly located teams, in order to enable supporters to watch their teams during away watches. For the moment it only concerns Championship (second division), but plans are to extend it to League 1 (third division) in mid-season and League 2 (fourth division) from 2015-16.

Some Championship (English second division) matches are played for example on Tuesdays at 19:45 (local time). Not all of the matches in the English second division are broadcast live in the UK and Ireland by the official broadcasters; Sky Sports broadcasts two matches live per matchday and the BBC broadcasts one.
