Algeria: All matches suspended on 29 and 30/08/2014 following death of Albert Ebossé

"We have hereby suspended and postponed until a later date all professional- and amateur-league matches in all categories in the entire country for the weekend of 29 and 30/08/2014," announced FAF (Algerian Football Federation) on 24/08/2014.

The decision came on the death of Cameroonian player Albert Ebossé on 23/08/2014. The striker for JS Kabylie (Algeria) was killed by a stone or other object launched from his own team's supporters during the Algerian first division JS Kabylie - USM Alger match (1-2).

"The FAF, the executive board and the members of the general assembly will be studying other more severe penalties including the possibility of disqualifying the offending club from competing," said the Algerian federation in a statement. The Algerian LFP (Professional Football League) said that it had "as a precaution, decided to close the stadium in Tizi Ouzou [JS Kabylie's stadium, in which the incident occurred] until further notice" on 24/08/2014.
