War in Ukraine/reactions: the majority of International Federations following IOC's recommendation

The IOC's recommendation for all International Sports Federations "to relocate or cancel their sports events currently planned in Russia or Belarus" on 25/02/2022, the day after Vladimir Putin's Russia invaded Ukraine, has been followed by the majority of the sports world, in particular the FIS, the ITF and the EHF (see below).

Nevertheless, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) decided on 26/02/2022, to maintain the World Volleyball Championships scheduled to take place in Russia from 26/08 to 11/09/2022, despite the potential boycott of several nations. It did however, state that "two rounds of the upcoming Volleyball Nations League (VNL) to be held in Russia in June and July have been relocated with immediate effect."

The International Olympic Committee condemned "the breach of the Olympic Truce by the Russian government and the government of Belarus through its support in this.
