England: FA still considering introducing B league

"We're still discussing with the Football League (the League that manages the second, third and fourth professional English divisions) and others about some possibilities about how to introduce B teams," said Greg Dyke, the chairman of the FA (Football Association), to the British sport channel BBC Sport on 17/09/2014.

The federation had suggested, on 08/05/2014, the creation of a League Three (5th division) composed of ten reserve teams from the big clubs in the Premier League and as well as 10 clubs playing in the Conference (current 5th division).

19 out of the 25 B-team players would have to be under 21 years old, and 20 of them would be from the European Union.

"We'll see what happens. I think B teams in a competitive environment is still a possibility," added Greg Dyke on 17/09/2014.

"In England, there is a blockage. 70% of the players in Premier League are foreign, and 50% in Championship [English second division], and that number goes up every year. If you look at the Germany team, which just won the World Cup, all but two of that squad played in B teams," said Greg Dyke at a…
