Greece: Kick-off of second division postponed due to "serious economic problems"

The kick-off of the Football League OPAP (the second Greek division), initially scheduled for 27 and 28/09/2014, was "postponed indefinitely due to serious institutional and economic problems," the League's administrative council announced on 17/09/2014.

The organisation indicated that it requested a meeting with the Greek Federation, the Super League (which manages the first division), the Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, as well as leaders of other political parties, "urging them to intervene to resolve these issues."

The betting operator OPAP, the main sponsor of the Football League, has decreased its funding by 30% compared to 2013-14, according to Greek media.
