Borussia Dortmund: revenues of €456.9m (+27%) and a net loss of €35.1m in 2021-22

Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) posted revenues (including transfers) of €456.9m during the 2021-22 financial year (01/07/2021 to 30/06/2022), up 27% compared to 2020-21 (€358.6m), announced the club on 19/08/2022. BVB posted a turnover excluding transfers of €351.6m (compared to €334.2m on 30/06/2021).

The German club posted a net loss of €35.1m, compared to a deficit of €72.8m at the end of the 2020-21 financial year. "We are returning to our old strength in terms of revenue. The gross consolidated performance is pretty close to the last financial year before Covid (€489.5m, including transfers, in 2018-19). The deficit of €35m is around €9m higher than forecast, due to a short-term book value adjustment in player assets," explained Hans-Joachim Watzke, CEO of Borussia Dortmund.

"The biggest cause for financial losses continued to be the restrictions on spectator capacity imposed as part of the measures to contain the Coronavirus pandemic.
