Organising the 2015 Women's World Cup (in Canada, from 06/06 to 05/07/2015) in 6 stadiums equipped with artificial turf, "that decision was taken a while ago. It is and was clear since a while ago, so we continue our plans with hosting all those matches on artificial turf. … There is no Plan B," said Tatjana Haenni, the Head of Women's Competitions for FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association), following the visit of stadium inspections on 07/10/2014.

FIFA commissioned a company to inspect the pitches and ensure that they meet 2 star quality after a group of players filed a complaint for gender discrimination, and to play in the competition on natural grass, the same as men. FIFA indicated that all certification of stadium pitches will be finalised early in 2015.
