Canada 2015: Canadian Federation considers action against synthetic surfaces "without merit"

"The CSA (Canadian Soccer Association) is prepared to vigorously defend its position and believes the complaint is entirely without merit," announced the Canadian Federation on 10/10/2014, in response to complaints of gender discrimination filed by a group of players against FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) and the Canadian Federation in order to compete in the World Cup 2015 (Canada, from 06/06 to 05/07/2015) on natural grass, not artificial turf, the same as the men.

"The use of high quality turf is integral to soccer in Canada, and the CSA's bid on behalf of Canada to host the competition was always premised on the use of turf in accordance with the rules relating to the Competition," added the federation.
