Amnesty International France has launched a solidarity fund for the benefit of FIFA to encourage the body to create a compensation fund for migrant workers in Qatar, which the NGO has been calling for for several months, on 09/11/2022.

"FIFA will make €6bn in profits from the 2022 World Cup and yet it has still not committed to creating a compensation fund for migrant workers in Qatar. €6bn euros in profits? Apparently, this is not enough to compensate these people who made the world's most watched sporting event possible, sometimes at the risk of their lives. That's why we are going to collect this money ourselves." Ironically, the NGO is not inviting donations, but signatures on a petition in support of its initiative "Ramenez la coupe à la raison" (Bring the cup back to sanity), launched in March 2022 (nearly 79,000 signatures as of 09/11/2022) to the attention of FIFA, as well as the French Football Federation (see below).
