Premier League ticket prices (+ 13%) increased 2 times faster than the cost of living (+ 6.8%)

The increase in the cheapest ticket prices to matches (+13%) of the Barclays Premier League is, on average since 2011, almost twice the increase in the cost of living in the UK (+6.8%), according to BBC Sport, on 14/10/2014.

Ticket prices for the English first four divisions, from the Premier League to League Two, have risen, on average, 4.4% per year, while the annual inflation rate is around 1.2%.

Ticket prices in English football have seen large increases

  • Current average price of the cheapest ticket in the Premier League to League Two: £21.49 (€27.20).
  • Average price of the cheapest ticket in the Premier League: + 15.8%.
  • Average price of the ticket in the Championship (second division): - 3.2%.
  • Average price of the ticket in League One (third division): + 31.7%.
  • Average price of the ticket in League Two (fourth division): + 19%.

Arsenal remains the most expensive club to watch play

  • Arsenal remains the most expensive team with the highest ticket for a match at £97 (€123) and a season ticket fee ranging from £1,014 (€1,283) to £2,013 (€2,548), according to the BBC.
