The share of revenue from ticket sales, compared to those of TV rights and sponsorship, is often small in the turnover of European clubs. However ticketing policies have become important strategic areas, particularly because of the possible inter-connections with other sources of income: catering, merchandising, hospitality, customer knowledge, and more.

The Barclays Premier League has the most expensive season tickets in Europe in 2014-15. The average entry price is at €661.1, and the most expensive season ticket of the league's clubs is sold, on average, for €1,111.90. The French Ligue 1 offers the least expensive season ticker of the five major European leagues, with a €176 average entry price, despite an increase of 12.4% (19 euros) compared to the 2013-14 season.

Liga BBVA clubs have an average of more than 27,200 season ticket holders in 2014-15. The Spanish league is ahead of the Bundesliga (25,522 average season ticket holders), the Serie A TIM (14,085) and Ligue 1 (12,455).
