DAZN: a turnover of $1.56bn & net loss of $2.3bn in 2021 (press)

The OTT sports platform DAZN has posted a turnover of $1.56bn (€1.45bn) and a net loss of $2.3bn (€2.1bn) in 2021, according to reports relayed by several media outlets on 11/01/2023.

DAZN posted a 79% increase in revenue compared to the year 2020, which was marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and the stoppage or postponement of several sports competitions. DAZN had reported revenues of $872m (€709m) and a net loss of $1.3bn (€1.06bn) for that year. DAZN recorded its biggest loss in 2021 since the streaming service was launched (in 2016).

The recapitalisation of the platform to the tune of $4.3bn (€4bn), carried out by Russian businessman Len Blavatnik (whose fortune is estimated at $36bn) via his company Access Industries on 18/02/2022, will nevertheless enable DAZN to repay its loans, the total amount of which is estimated at $3.3bn (€3bn), according to press reports.
