Qatari Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, chairman of Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), has submitted a bid to acquire a 100% stake in Manchester United FC (Premier League), according to a statement from the Sheikh on 17/02/2023.

The son of Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, Prime Minister of Qatar from 2007 to 2013, and a member of the family of Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the sheikh is a longstanding supporter of Manchester United. The bid, which has not been disclosed, is estimated to be worth over £4bn (€4.5bn) according to British media.

"The bid plans to return the club to its former glories. The bid will be completely debt free via Sheikh Jassim's Nine Two Foundation, which will look to invest in the football teams, the training centre, the stadium and wider infrastructure, the fan experience and the communities the club supports.
