Brazil 2014: FIFA allocates €80m in legacy money to promote the development of football

Jerome Valcke, secretary general of FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association), Jose Maria Marin, president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Federation) and Marco Polo del Nero, president-elect of the CBF, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the implementation of a legacy fund the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, in the presence of Aldo Rebelo Brazilian Sports Minister, on 10/11/2014.

The signing of the MoU took place at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich (Switzerland). The legacy fund, with $100m (approximately €80m), aims to promote development in the areas of infrastructure, women's football, youth football, health and various social programs to disadvantaged communities, "especially those of the 15 states that did not host matches of the World Cup," stated FIFA.
