France: arrests of several club individuals under investigation for match-fixing in Ligue 2

Several arrests were made in Nîmes, Angers, Caen and Dijon as part of an investigation for suspected "corruption and bribery in connection with sporting events" regarding Ligue 2 matches during the end of the 2013-14 season, indicated several French media outlets on 18/11/2014.

The president of SM Caen (promoted to Ligue 1 in 2014-15), Jean-François Fortin, was among those arrested, as well as the president of Nîmes Olympique, Jean-Marc Conrad, according to Le Parisien on 18/11/2014. This police operation was conducted by investigators from the SCCJ (French racing and gaming authority).

  • Serge Kasparian, a former shareholder of Nîmes Olympique, was imprisoned in Fleury-Merogis (Essonne) in October 2014 as part of the investigation into the Cadet gambling circle (in Paris).
