8 of the 12 stadiums of the 2006 World Cup in Germany have a museum dedicated to the resident club. These museums were created between 2000 and 2012.

The stadiums are the Commerzbank Arena (Frankfurt), the Allianz Arena (Munich), Signal Iduna Park (Dortmund), the Rhein Energie Stadion (Köln), the Imtech Arena (Hamburg), the Fritz-Walter Stadion (Kaiserslautern), the Weserstadion (Bremen) and the Veltins Arena (Gelsenkirchen). These stages were all built or renovated for the 2006 World Cup.

"These museums were all part of the plan of the local organising committee of the 2006 World Cup," said Hamburger SV, to News Tank on 20/07/2014. "All the clubs were open to the idea of having a museum that is a real institutional legacy,"

  • Germany is the European country that has the most museums dedicated to football with eight museums in total.
