German/DFB: launch of a platform enabling amateur clubs to analyse their carbon footprint

The Deutscher Fussball Bund is launching a free online platform for Germany's more than 24,000 amateur clubs, enabling them to "analyse their personal carbon footprint each season, identify reduction potential and subsequently take appropriate climate protection measures," announced the German Football Association on 16/01/2024.

The platform includes a tool on which "each amateur club can fill in its data according to various predefined categories (travel, energy, events, water, equipment, etc.)," explained the DFB. " After completing the data query, the clubs receive a graphical and numerical evaluation that shows where they are already well positioned and where there is still potential for reduction."

The platform also lists, region by region, the local funding that clubs can apply for to improve their sustainable development policy.
