Canada 2015: group of top female players end legal action against FIFA for natural grass pitches

The coalition of over 40 top female players have ended their legal action against FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) and CSA (Canadian Soccer Association) to have the matches of the 2015 Women's World Cup (Canada, from 06/06 to 05/07/2015) played on natural grass pitches, announced Hampton Dellinger, the lawyer representing the players, in a statement on 21/01/2015.

The end of this legal action means that all matches of the 2015 Women's World Cup will be played on artificial surfaces. This includes the final match at BC Place stadium in Vancouver (CAN) on 05/07/2015. The artificial turf at BC Place was a specific concern of the players, and will now be replaced with a new artificial surface before the tournament begins.
